Some are faux cloisonne, some are steampunk style with inclusions and resin, some use paint, or other various mediums and techniques that I happen to find appealing in some way.  You will find things like beads, resin, clay, paint, wire, and various other items are used in the creation of this group of pendants.

Cloisonné, by the way, is an ancient metalwork decorating technique.  In more recent times it has used vitreous enamel, and in older periods inlays of cut gemstones, glass, and other materials were used. Cloisonné is the term for the decoration resulting from these techniques. In traditional cloisonne wire is used to create compartments (cloisons in French) on a metal object by adhering silver or gold wires. These wires remain visible in the finished piece, but form the different compartments where the enamel or inlays are placed.

What is steampunk? It is generally considered that Steampunk is an artistic or creative reflection of life in the 19th century, or the possibility of what life could have been.  It's a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction. I think of it like an 'artistic imaginarium' not for the study of what is, but for the contemplation of what could have been, and giving those ideas modern life.  Science fiction, fantasy, fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, steam powered industry blended with the essence of the Victorian era. In terms of jewelry, steampunk generally uses old pieces of machinery, like clock works and cogs, blended with the creativity and ingenuity of the artist. But that's just may take on it.  The beauty of art is, you can choose to make of it whatever you wish.
